5 Fitness Fundamentals to Kick Start Your Journey Today

You don't need to be a fitness guru to get started. I've seen the most success come from clients who just start - with what they have, where they are! And we focus on 5 fundamental's to kick start their journey.

  1. Get Consistent Consistency is key! Start with small, achievable goals and gradually build up. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a fit and healthy lifestyle. Consistent efforts, no matter how modest, lead to lasting change, I promise!

  2. Listen to Your Body Exercise should invigorate, not exhaust! Listen to your body's signals – if you're tired, take a break. Understanding the importance of rest and recovery is fundamental to avoid burnout and injury. Trust your body's wisdom; it knows best.

  3. Basic Movement Patterns for Beginners Squats: Start with the foundational squat. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, lower your body by bending your knees and pushing your hips back, then return to the starting position. Squats engage multiple muscle groups, making them a fantastic full-body exercise. Lunges: Lunges are great for targeting the legs and glutes. Step forward with one foot, lower your hips until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle, then push back to the starting position. Alternate legs for a well-rounded workout. Push-Ups: Don't be intimidated; push-ups are a versatile upper body exercise. Start with modified push-ups on your knees or at an incline by using a bend or table, focusing on maintaining a straight line from head to knees. As you gain strength, progress to standard push-ups.

  4. Choose Activities You Enjoy Exercise should be enjoyable, not a chore. Whether it's walking, dancing, cycling, or swimming, find activities that bring you joy. When you love what you do, staying consistent becomes second nature.

  5. Start with Short Workouts Quality over quantity! Begin with short, manageable workouts and gradually increase duration as you become more comfortable. This approach minimizes the risk of burnout and keeps motivation high.

When you’re getting started on this journey, stick with the fundamentals! This will build your foundation strong and help you through whenever life comes crashing in like it always does. The stronger your foundation, the less likely you’ll crack!
