Want to walk into any fitness related situation like the badass that you are? Welcome, you're in the right spot!
There are some core principles you can focus on when it comes to working out, that will help you feel more confident and knowledgeable in your journey. Even if you’re not feeling like an athlete, you could walk into any gym with confidence if you focus on these four principles!
The Foundation of Form
Without good form, you’re wasting a lot of effort! I see many people speed through moves, but it’s really not about speed here. Form is the bedrock of any effective exercise routine. Whether you're squatting, lifting, or stretching, paying meticulous attention to your form ensures not only optimal results but also minimizes the risk of injuries. Engage your core, align your spine, and move with intention – each movement is a chance to sculpt your body while building confidence in your capabilities. This is where you need to be present in your body and feeling the move you’re doing. (Which is why working out is such a great mental health tool – if you do it right, it gives you a chance to be present with yourself!).
Breathing Right
I often have to remind so many clients to breathe. Yes, you read that right. Many of us have an automatic response to hold our breath when we do physical things, but this can hinder you during your workouts. You want to sync your inhales and exhales with your movements. Deep, intentional breathing not only oxygenates your muscles but also calms the mind. It's a dance between your breath and your body – a secret weapon for boosting stamina, focus, and confidence.
The Art of Being Present In the midst of a workout, like many things we do, it's easy to let your mind wander. Bring it back. Being present is a game-changer. Feel the contraction of your muscles, the rhythm of your breath, and the ground beneath you. When you're truly present, each exercise becomes a mindful moment, building a deeper connection between your mind and body.
Body Awareness True confidence arises from knowing your body intimately. Cultivate body awareness by paying attention to how each movement feels. Where do you feel tension? Are you engaging the right muscles? This awareness not only improves your form but also allows you to make informed adjustments, nurturing a sense of mastery over your body. Plus, you'll be focused on you and not everybody else - that alone helps with confidence!
Focus on these areas and you’ll be able to build more confidence around working out and fitness. And that…that’s where the magic is! ✨✨
