Natural Headache Remedies

Headaches are a common problem that can stop you in your tracks - it can affect your work, your workouts and your social events. I have a lot of clients tell me they get headaches often and they find it can impede their workouts.

A good line of defense is to keep yourself hydrated as much as possible since dehydration is a huge contributor to headaches! But in case you find yourself with a headache - here are some natural remedies to try to get yourself back to normal.

1. Try some watermelon! - It's delicious and water-rich so it can relieve a headache by re-hydrating your body.

2. Breathe deeply - when we feel pain, we tend to tense up and feel stressed. Take a few moments of calm to take deep breathes and ease any tension in your body.

3. Massage your head and scalp - it will feel great and provide a nice distraction to the pain while possibly helping get rid of your headache all together. 4. Stretch your neck - headaches usually follow tension so try some neck stretches to relieve your pain.

5. Use ice on your temples - It can help to lower the temperature of blood passing through your templates 6. Try spicy food - Cayenne pepper has capsaicin which is proven to have some control over our pain perception. Add some to your food! 7. Shower - Hot water falling on the back of your neck and head could help since heat relaxes tense muscles. 8. Have some ginger tea - ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It will help relax you as well!
